plasmodesmata
Plasmodesmata are fine channels that connect plant cells together. Plant cells have rigid walls, but plasmodesmata allow them to communicate. Because they puncture the cell wall, plasmodesmata are conduits for the spread of certain plant viruses...
The purple areas are glimpses endoplasmic reticulum. The ER of two adjacents cells are connected by the fine purple tube (desmotubule). Spoke-like molecules span the gap between the desmotubule and the sides of the channel in the plant cell wall.
